Marcos presses Congress to raise minimum taxable income to P350,000

MANILA, Philippines – President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. pressed lawmakers to recalibrate the country’s income tax bracket by raising the minimum annual income subject to tax to P350,000 from the current P250,000.

In his fifth State of the Nation Address (Sona), Marcos urged Congress to pass legislation tweaking the income tax regime, saying the move could benefit millions of workers and allow them to enjoy “their hard-earned income.” He also floated plans to cut the income tax for other wage earners but gave no details.
