Good Morning Britain star Richard Madeley spoke about Meghan Markle's MasterChef appearance10:07, 27 Jul 2026The stars of Good Morning Britain discussed Meghan Markle during the latest show.‌Richard Madeley and Kate Garraway returned to the ITV studios on Monday (July 27) to deliver the day's biggest headlines from across the UK and around the world.‌Later in the show, the hosts were joined by Vanessa Feltz and Terry Christian to discuss the topical news stories, including the Duchess of Sussex's appearance on MasterChef Australia.‌Meghan made her show debut down under, appearing as a guest judge on the Australian edition of the popular cooking competition.During the episode, Meghan received a surprise phone call from her husband, Prince Harry, and opted to be called Meghan, rather than "duchess".‌Discussing the Duchess of Sussex on GMB, Kate said: "She served up more than just judging. She revealed her kids eat brussel sprouts and she no longer wants to be called duchess. It's certainly whipped up headlines all around the world, hasn't it?"Richard then took a swipe at Meghan, saying: "If she doesn't want to be called duchess, why did she say, 'Cook me a meal fit for a duchess.' You can't have it both ways."Mind you, Meghan Markle tries to have it both ways all the time, doesn't she?"‌After the break, Richard Arnold explained: "Meghan insisted that she did not want to be called duchess when she appeared on the show, after reports that she was unhappy about claims that the tour with Harry was cashing in on their royal links."A clip was then played, in which judge Poh Ling Yeow asked: "Do we call you duchess?" before Meghan quickly replied: "Oh, call me Meghan. Absolutely."‌Vanessa Feltz then said: "And also, we all saw on With Love, Meghan when she said to Mindy Kaling, 'Why are you calling me Markle? It's Sussex now.' She very much likes to be called Sussex."Richard Arnold concluded: "So, Meghan Sussex, but definitely not duchess."GMB viewers were quick to share their frustration, as they felt that Meghan was only asking not be called a duchess during the show, and not overall.‌"We all know she meant for the TV show and not overall," one person wrote on X (formerly Twitter).Another added: "Sussex is her husband's surname - which she (like millions of others) took when she married him: Meghan Sussex is her name fgs. Also, she's still a duchess even when she's releasing others from formalities when addressing her... do better."Elsewhere on today's GMB, viewers were delighted to see Chris Page make his weather presenting debut, with many sharing their praise on social media.Article continues belowGood Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV1 and ITVX at 6am
