BTS' V (@thv) Between stadium performances and global commitments, BTS' V has drawn attention to a book that explores the quiet power of simply getting through everyday life.Late Thursday night, the singer shared on his Instagram story "The Sensibility of an Everyday Person" (a literal translation of the Korean title), a newly published essay collection by the celebrated Korean lyricist Kim Eana. The publisher, Storyseller, said messages poured in almost immediately after V shared the book."Seeing the response the moment V shared the book reminded us just how much it means to authors and publishers when an artist introduces the books that have inspired them," the publisher wrote on social media.Kim reposted V's story on Instagram with a brief note of thanks addressed to the singer by his given name, Kim Tae-hyung.One of South Korea's most influential lyricists, V has written some of modern K-pop's defining songs, including Park Hyo-shin's poignant ballad "Breath," Brown Eyed Girls' era-defining dance hit "Abracadabra," IU's breakthrough anthem "Good Day" and Ive's self-affirming chart-topper "I Am." Kim Eana's "The Sensibility of an Everyday Person" (a literal translation of the Korean title) (Storyseller) If self-help books often promise reinvention, Kim's latest collection argues for something more modest: returning to the rhythms of everyday life.Kim described the book as an exploration of "the small things that saved me when everyday life felt close enough to touch but somehow remained out of reach, when life seemed ever so slightly out of alignment and I felt alone in it."Kim turns her attention to those quietly sustaining an ordinary life. The essays offer comfort to readers who are simply trying to get through each day."The days that unfold without dramatic highs or lows, without straying from their course, are proof that we're living earnestly," she writes. "How much time and effort does it take to simply keep that going?"Kim writes that finding happiness in such ordinary things is "a tremendous blessing." While everyone naturally strives for a better material life, the quality of that life ultimately depends on whether we have "small moments of happiness we can savor like pieces of candy along the way."The new collection is her first book in six years, following her 2020 bestseller "Ordinary Words," which has sold more than 200,000 copies.V's recommendation arrives as BTS enters another busy stretch. After wrapping up the European leg of its "Arirang" world tour, the group is set to begin performances across North and South America on Aug. 1.Celeb Reads explores how K-pop stars, actors and other public figures are reshaping the publishing world through heartfelt book recommendations that revive forgotten titles and create new bestsellers.
