Last month, Eskom threatened to reduce or interrupt electricity supply to the City of Johannesburg and City Power after their arrear debt climbed to more than R5 billion.
IOL previously reported that Electricity and Energy Minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa has sounded the alarm over the rising municipal debt owed to Eskom, warning that it is increasing by approximately R3 billion every month.
