Brussels lifted sanctions on Moscow's most luxurious fur
The world’s most expensive fur, used in coats that can fetch six-figure sums, was briefly caught by EU sanctions on Russia. Now it has won a reprieve.
Imports of luxury Russian sable pelts may now resume after EU member states removed a ban introduced only in April.
The change was included in Brussels’ latest sanctions package against Moscow, agreed last week.
The European Commission argued the exemption was necessary because Russia dominates the global sable trade, leaving European manufacturers with few alternative suppliers.
