Lionel Messi handed every member of Argentina’s 2026 FIFA World Cup squad a gold-colored Stanley thermal flask and a custom bag engraved with their name, just days before the tournament’s final.

A tradition worth more than $200K and counting

After Argentina’s 2022 World Cup victory, he distributed 35 custom 24-carat gold iPhone 14 Pros to players and staff. The total cost of that gesture exceeded $200,000.

The 2026 edition was more culturally pointed. The gold Stanley flask is a nod to Argentina’s mate-drinking tradition, a daily ritual that doubles as a bonding exercise for the national team.

The gifts were revealed through social media, notably by the girlfriend of defender Marcos Senesi.
