Inkosi Simphiwe Zuma, the traditional leader of KwaNxamalala Traditional Authority who is facing three murder charges. His trials have gained momentum after being transferred to the High Court.
The three murder cases involving Nxamalala Traditional Authority leader Inkosi Simphiwe Zuma have entered a new phase after two of the trials were transferred to the Pietermaritzburg High Court, where he made his first appearance on Thursday.
Zuma is facing charges relating to the murders of his cousin, Nxamalala Traditional Authority Induna Qalokunye Zuma, and Mpophomeni bricklayer Xolani Ntombela/Ndlovu.
Induna Qalokunye Zuma was shot dead at close range on the afternoon of January 14, 2023, while sitting in bed at his home in KwaNovuka village, Impendle, entertaining guests by playing a concertina.
A pre-trial hearing was expected to begin on Thursday. However, the matter was postponed to August 13, when the court is expected to determine a trial date.
