According to the statement, the heavily armed terrorists stormed the chairman's residence, overpowered his police escorts and local vigilantes before abducting him alongside members of his family.
The military has said troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA rescued some members of the family of the abducted Chairman of Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara State, Hon. Nura Umar Abdullahi, following a gun battle with terrorists who attacked his residence in the early hours of Friday.
The military, however, said the terrorists escaped with the council chairman despite a coordinated pursuit by security operatives.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Media Information Officer of Joint Task Force (North West), Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja.
