MANILA, Philippines — Heavy rains are expected over Zambales and Bataan in the next few hours due to the “enhanced” southwest monsoon, or habagat, prompting state meteorologists to issue a yellow rainfall alert at 8 a.m. Sunday.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) warned of 7.5 to 15 millimeters of rain per hour, which may continue for another two hours.
Under the alert, flooding and landslides in mountainous areas are possible.
