Roughly 184,000 cans of Amy’s Kitchen soup have been recalled over a manufacturing problem with the pull tabs that seal the cans. The voluntary recall only impacts Amy’s Organic Lentil Soup of the Light in Sodium variety. The recalled cans have a lot number of 60D0924 and a best by date of April 2027. “Amy’s recalled the lot out of an abundance of caution to ensure the high quality of its products. No other Amy’s products or lots are involved,” a company spokesperson said in an emailed statement. The company sells soup at major nation chains like Target, Walmart, and Kroger, as well as more regional chains like Sprouts in California and Hy-Vee in the Midwest. The FDA has categorized the soup recall as Class II meaning, “a situation in which use of or exposure to a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.” A Class II recall is less serious than a Class I recall which is when it’s believed that the product “will cause serious adverse health consequences or death.” The soup has been recalled in the following states: Arizona California Colorado Connecticut Florida Georgia Iowa Idaho Illinois Indiana Maryland Maine Missouri North Carolina New Hampshire New Jersey Nevada New York Ohio Pennsylvania South Carolina South Dakota Tennessee Texas Virginia Washington Wisconsin Another unrelated soup recall was issued this week involving Tasty Kitchen Chicken Noodle Condensed Soup. The soup was imported from Canadian firm BCI Foods and includes a best by date of 2028 FE 04 listed on the cans. There have been no reports of injury or illness and the recall was initiated because the food wasn’t presented for inspection by the USDA, according to a press release from the government agency.
