Two boys who nearly drowned in Blackpool have been reunited with the Royal National Lifeboat Institution volunteers who saved them10:27, 25 Jul 2026Two children were reunited with the men who save them from drowning in a moving segment on BBC Breakfast.‌Subhaan and Khizar, from Yorkshire, were with several relatives who travelled to Blackpool Pier together to celebrate the Muslim festival of Eid.‌But host Naga Munchetty explained that "things took a terrifying turn" when they got into trouble in the water.‌The boys, and an adult, ended up being saved by Royal National Lifeboat Institution volunteers, with the rescue captured on bodycam footage.As he was reunited with the men who saved him, Subhaan said: "Everyone that came to help me was a blessing in my eyes."‌"Everything that happened that day, is very scary, is because we all got - well, us two got stuck on the pier, and it's a blessing from God that we got to see our families again," said Khizar.The rescue footage was shown on BBC Breakfast, with the report saying: "The dramatic moment when the lifeboat crew arrives near Blackpool Pier - a 10-year-old boy from Leeds and his 12-year-old cousin from Bradford are just seconds away from drowning. The youngest is struggling to keep his head above water. His cousin is clinging to the pier before he too is rescued."Zully, the mum of Subhaan, said: "I had no hope, honestly, and I just thought, 'Lord, anything you do for the goodness of me, please bring a miracle. Please happen a miracle, save these boys,' because I wouldn't be able to live with the thought of losing both of them."‌RNLI volunteer Nathan Lee said the team had "got there very, very quickly"."We launched there very quickly and got in the sea very quickly," he said. "So, yeah, if they'd have let go, they could have been sucked under and dragged out, and at least we could get them out."Article continues below"We didn't know they were normal people like us trying to save lives and doing that courageous job, trying to be out there saving lives, and they saved our children."That is the biggest miracle they could ever do, and the Lord answered my prayers," said Zully.BBC Breakfast airs on BBC One from 6am
