An ex-policeman has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for the murder of his police officer girlfriend.

On Friday at the Blue Down Regional Court, Mpumzile Nompetsheni was convicted and sentenced for the fateful incident that occurred in October 2023.
Hawks spokesperson Siyabulela Vukubi confirmed that while Nompetsheni, 33, initially faced three criminal charges, he was only convicted and subsequently sentenced on two charges.
For the charge of murder, he was sentenced to 15 years, and for defeating the ends of justice, he was sentenced to five years.
