Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards-nominated documentary NATA (Not Addressing This Anymore) has begun its university outreach campaign with a screening at the University of Lagos, using the platform to deepen conversations on infertility and challenge long-standing stigma surrounding reproductive health.
The documentary, directed by filmmaker, Huzzain Bello, was screened at the Afe Babalola Auditorium of the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies, UNILAG, as part of activities extending the conversations initiated during the global Fertility Awareness Month observed in June.
The event attracted students, lecturers and guests, with organisers saying the initiative was designed to take fertility awareness beyond a commemorative month and into Nigerian university campuses.
According to Bello, the documentary seeks to encourage more inclusive conversations around infertility, particularly by addressing misconceptions that often place the burden solely on women.
“This screening was never just for the women in the room. Fertility is a shared experience, and the stigma that surrounds it will only break when young men understand that this is their conversation too,” he said.
