Nigerian digital health platform GoMed has partnered with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the Lagos State Government to launch a digital self-care platform aimed at expanding access to sexual and reproductive health services for students at the University of Lagos.
The initiative is designed to help students obtain contraceptives, reproductive health commodities, professional counselling and pharmacy support through a digital platform, as policymakers and health experts seek to address high rates of unintended pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections (STIs) among young people.
Under the programme, students will receive free contraceptives and other reproductive health commodities supplied through the Lagos State Ministry of Health and UNFPA. The platform also offers discounted health products, confidential consultations with registered pharmacists and discreet delivery of medicines and health products to campuses and student hostels.
Students will also have access to reproductive health information through UNFPA’s SoftLife 247 and U-PLAN platforms, where they can consult qualified family planning service providers and obtain information on sexual and reproductive health.
