D4vd allegedly asked teenager Celeste Rivas Hernandez, “it is mine right” before she got an abortion, according to text messages shared by prosecutors Friday.
The message, sent in early 2024, when Rivas was 13 years old, was part of a trove of messages and alleged child sex abuse material found on D4vd’s phone during the investigation into whether the singer — born David Anthony Burke — murdered Rivas. (Burke has denied the allegations.) Detective Corey Farrell read the text messages, and described the images, while testifying at a preliminary hearing that will determine whether the case heads to trial.
Based on the messages, Rivas expressed fears that she was pregnant in late November 2023, the same time prosecutors claim she and Burke began a sexual relationship. “Currently [manifesting] my period bc I refuse to have kids,” Rivas allegedly texted Burke. Burke allegedly replied, “did you miss your date,” and allegedly urged her to start tracking her menstrual cycle with an app.
“I just need to make sure ur on top of ur shit,” he allegedly wrote.
According to Farrell’s testimony, Rivas got an abortion in early January 2024. A few days before the procedure, Rivas allegedly texted Burke, “Both of us aren’t able to take care of it.” Burke allegedly replied, “you’re sm [so much] stronger than me baby lmao” and “I love you.”
