Image/XNew details came out during the preliminary hearing in the murder case against singer David Anthony Burke, also known as D4vd. On the fourth day of the hearing, prosecutors presented text messages recovered from Burke’s phone that they say show he allegedly got 13-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez pregnant in late 2023. According to testimony from an LAPD detective, the messages suggest the two discussed ending the pregnancy in January 2024. In one exchange, he wrote, "I'm sorry again baby i didnt want to ever put you through this."Celeste replied that they were both not ready to take care of a baby and tried to comfort him. Burke later asked when she would "get it done," and she answered, "Two days."In another conversation, Burke asked a question that he said his mother had told him to ask. He wrote, "Is it mine?" Celeste replied, "Of course it is David."Prosecutors told the court that these messages suggest Celeste had an abortion in January 2024, when she was 13 years old.Months later, in August 2024, Celeste sent another message saying she deeply regretted what had happened. She wrote that she had "killed my kid" for him and wished she could have the baby back. Prosecutors also said Burke's phone lock screen was a photo of him and Celeste together.The court also heard about messages showing the pair making future plans. They discussed Celeste moving in with Burke, called the plan "Operation Awesome," talked about travelling to Las Vegas, and even discussed going to Italy to get married. Prosecutors also said Burke used the name "Trayvion Davis" when placing delivery orders to his Hollywood home.Before this evidence was shown, Deputy District Attorney Beth Silverman warned Celeste's parents that the material would be very upsetting. The family left the courtroom, and Celeste's mother was heard crying outside.Burke, 21, is charged with murder, continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14, and mutilation of human remains. Prosecutors allege he killed Celeste in April 2025. Her remains were found months later inside the front trunk of his Tesla at a Hollywood tow yard. Burke has pleaded not guilty, and the preliminary hearing is expected to conclude before Judge Charlaine Olmedo after the prosecution finishes presenting its final witness.The allegations and evidence presented during the preliminary hearing have not yet been tested at trial.
