Rick and Morty spinoff President Curtis apparently has a high approval rating, even before its series launch.
During the San Diego Comic-Con panel on Friday for the forthcoming Adult Swim animated series, the team announced that President Curtis has been renewed for a second season that is currently in production. Keith David leads the voice cast as President Andre Curtis for the project that premieres its first season Sunday, immediately following the season nine finale of Rick and Morty, with episodes set to stream the following day on HBO Max.
David took part in the panel alongside co-stars Stephanie Beatriz and Jim Rash, in addition to co-creators and executive producers Dan Harmon and James Siciliano. President Curtis is part of the Rick and Morty universe and centers on the titular commander in chief, who has been a staple of the flagship series since David’s introduction during the season two fan-favorite “Get Schwifty” episode.
President Curtis follows the leader of the free world and his quirky staff as they navigate a range of crises, including interdimensional diplomacy, paranormal investigations and unexplained phenomena. Season two is set to introduce dangerous new threats, complicated alliances and an array of bizarre missions. Danielle Uhlarik, Monica Mitchell and Steve Levy executive produce the show with Harmon and Siciliano.
