When AI agents started showing up everywhere, I thought I'd finally found something that could make my job easier overnight.
I was working in QA, still figuring a lot of things out as I went, and everyone online was talking about agents that could test applications on their own — explore the app, write test cases, fix issues, retry when something failed. I didn't fully understand how any of it worked under the hood. I just knew it sounded incredible, and I wanted to try it.
So I put together a small AI-powered testing setup at work, mostly stitched together from tutorials and trial and error. I gave the agent a lot of access — it could run commands, edit files, write and rerun tests, all without me stepping in much. I didn't think too hard about how much freedom I was actually handing over. I just wanted to see it work.
