Largan Precision Co (大立光), a major camera lens supplier for Apple Inc’s iPhones, yesterday said it is on track to complete construction by the end of this quarter of a new pilot production line for fiber arrays (FA) used in new chip packaging technologies.Largan chairman Adam Lin (林恩平) earlier this month told investors that the company is pushing into the copackaged optics (CPO) market by supplying FAs and plans to send samples to a customer for certification this month.Taichung-based Largan plans to start volume production of FAs in the middle of next year, with initial revenue contributions at the same time, Lin said at the time.

The plan is on schedule, a Largan official told the Taipei Times by telephone yesterday.Aside from the customer to whom Largan expects to send FA samples this month, the company is also working with several other customers on proof-of-concept projects, Lin said.
