On Thursday, the ECB revealed ten possible designs for the next generation of euro banknotes, inviting Europeans to help decide the look of the bloc’s future paper money.
Naturally, it took social media about five minutes to turn what was supposed to be an exercise in shared identity and the future of physical money into a meme and joke showdown.
Europeans flooded the internet with their own versions of the banknotes, many seemingly generated with the help of AI.
