Eight years after launching Beachville as a roastery and six years after introducing Chennai to its first roastery cafe, founder Divya Jayashankar has opened a second outpost in the leafy lanes of Tiruvanmiyur. A world away from the constant buzz of the St. Mary’s Road cafe, this new address moves at an unhurried pace.

Tucked inside the same space as The Button Thief Co., an independent label known for its handcrafted everyday clothing, the cafe feels like a natural extension of the label’s philosophy. For Divya, the choice was deeply personal. “I grew up in this neighbourhood. My grandparents’ house was here, and I’ve been visiting the store for many years. Since they also believe in slow, sustainable living, it felt like a perfect space to share,” she says.At the heart of Beachville’s menu is coffee sourced from estates in Chikmagaluru, Coorg, Yercaud, and Biligiri Ranga Hills, which reflects Divya’s focus on traceability and origin-driven flavours. The drinks menu blends classic brewing techniques with experimentation. We start with zen, a blend of chamomile-infused milk, filter coffee decoction, and a drizzle of olive oil. Next is the banana milk latte, made with house-made banana milk, espresso, and topped with a brûléed banana for a caramelised sweetness. We then try a clarified latte with a clarified milk base and hints of citrus, and an Attikan pour-over. “This was my way of experimentation and pushing boundaries,” laughs Divya.
