Quality teas in Kochi auctions have fetched better prices from blenders and exporters both in dust and leaf categories.In Sale 30, blenders have shown interest in dust grades, while orthodox leaf receives interest from CIS buyers, traders said.Anil George Joseph of Tea Trade Association of Cochin said that trade expects the CTC market to remain firm in the coming weeks on festive demand, while the Orthodox market is likely to continue its positive momentum on the back of healthy export orders.The CTC dust market was up by ₹2 per kg at ₹153.88 and the quantity offered was 6,61,231 kg witnessing a sales percentage of 73. All blenders together absorbed 72 per cent of the total CTC quantity sold. However, export and upcountry demand was subdued, the auctioneers Forbes, Ewart & Figgis said.The orthodox dust market was firm to dearer with exporters and upcountry buyers covering a small quantity. The offered quantity was 6,765 kg with a sale of 89 per cent.The export demand for orthodox leaves was subdued especially from West Asia buyers, CIS countries were active in purchase. The offered quantity was 2,69,549 kg with a sales percentage of 92. The prices for whole leaf and brokens were higher, while remainder was irregular and lower, witnessing some withdrawal.In CTC leaf, brokens and Fannings barely remained steady and tended to ease.
