On July 22, 2026, Germany and Nigeria reaffirmed their commitment to expanding bilateral trade and investment, focusing on renewable energy, technology, and regional security.
The alliance was highlighted during official bilateral discussions in Abuja aimed at deepening commercial cooperation and infrastructure development.
Bilateral trade volume between the two countries grew by 10% over the past year, supported by more than 100 German enterprises currently operating in Nigeria.
Expanding economic ties and clean energy initiatives
Nigeria continues to serve as Germany's second largest trading partner in sub-Saharan Africa, with both governments seeking to accelerate private sector investments in green energy, critical minerals, and digital technology.
