The company who manufactured a cooldrink allegedly consumed by six children before they became seriously ill said it has not yet received a formal complaint from the family, hospitals or authorities.

The children, aged between six and 15, were taken to various Cape Town hospitals after allegedly vomiting excessively, collapsing and experiencing breathing difficulties on Saturday evening.

Four of the children, including the youngest, are the children of Sakeena Adam and her husband, while the other two are friends of the family.

The Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness confirmed that the children were treated at various hospitals and later released into the care of their parents.
