The Bantwal Rural police, on Wednesday, arrested a 23-year-old man in connection with an attempted theft at Canara Bank’s branch in Farangipet on June 13.The police said the accused, identified as Mohammed Shakir, 33, of Maripalla in Bantwal, broke part of the building’s roof to enter the bank in the early hours of June 13. Bank employees noticed the attempted theft when the branch was opened. The police said nothing had been stolen from the branch.The police said an inquiry was under way to find out whether any other persons were involved in the incident. Shakir was booked under Sections 331(3) (house trespass), 331(4), 305(a) (theft in a dwelling house) and 62 (attempting to commit offences punishable with life imprisonment or other imprisonment) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
