An unidentified person attempted to burgle a bank at Postal Colony in West Mambalam early on Friday. However, unable to open the safe, he tore up the documents and fled.
The police said when the staff of the Bank of India arrived for work, they noticed that the locks of the shutters were broken and documents torn and strewn all over the bank. Subsequently, they alerted the higher-ups and the Ashok Nagar police about the break-in.
Upon receiving the information, the police went to the spot and scrutinised the CCTV footage. The footage showed that the suspect, who wore a mask, spent more than four hours inside the bank searching for cash and valuables before fleeing.
