Karnataka government has committed, and shared an update on the semiconductor park. Industries Minister, MB Patil said a 200-acre Semiconductor Park in Phase I of KWIN City is expected to become operational by December this year.Speaking at the inaugural session of the 15th Strategic Electronics Summit-2026, held at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC) in Bengaluru, the Minister shared the updateTo complement the infrastructure, the state announced its upcoming Aerospace and Defence Policy 2026–2031, which focuses on developing clusters for electronic warfare, embedded software, e-VTOL technologies, and space payloads.The policy updates follow ₹23,000 crore in approved investments across semiconductor and ESDM sectors, expected to generate over 3,500 engineering jobs. Major commitments include Lam Research (₹15,901 crore), Applied Materials India (₹4,851 crore), and Bharat Semi Systems (₹2,342 crore). The state is also working to integrate local MSMEs into global semiconductor supply chains while leveraging Bengaluru’s design ecosystem, which currently includes over 100 chip design firms working up to the 3-nanometre level.On the occasion, the Minister released the ELCINA Report-26. He also unveiled Wings of Astra, a book authored by Colonel Lakshyajeet Singh Chauhan on the future of drones and emerging technologies.C-DOT Chief Executive Officer Dr Rajkumar Upadhyay, Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) Chairman and Managing Director Manoj Jain, Joint Secretary to the Government of India Sushil Pal, DRDO Director General Dr B.K. Das, and Lieutenant General Rajeev Sahni addressed the gathering and shared their perspectives on emerging trends in the strategic electronics sector.
