July 23 (UPI) -- American forces carried out a 12th consecutive round of attacks against Iranian military targets overnight while Tehran claimed retaliatory strikes on U.S. military sites in Kuwait and Jordan, "killing and wounding" American troops.
In an update on X in the early hours of Thursday, U.S. Central Command said the attacks hit maritime capabilities, missile and drone storage facilities, coastal surveillance sites and air defense assets.
"The strikes further degrade Iran's ability to attack civilian mariners and commercial vessels," said CENTCOM, adding that the latest attacks meant American forces had targeted dozens of land-based Iranian military sites in the past three weeks while enforcing a renewed blockade of Iranian ports.
CENTCOM said during that time U.S. naval forces in the area had turned back nine commercial ships and fired on one, disabling it, to prevent them from departing or entering Iranian ports.
