People are urged not to cross the railway line.

The family of a four-year-old boy who was struck by a moving train near Langa railway station on Tuesday say they are struggling to come to terms with the traumatic incident.

When contacted by Vukani, the boy's father, whose identity is being withheld to protect the child's privacy, confirmed that the incident had occurred and said his son was alive and receiving treatment in hospital.

"Yes, brother, it happened. But I am not in the right state of mind to talk about it now. Please call us later," he said on Wednesday.

According to Langa police, the boy and another child were crossing the railway line from the opposite side, reportedly on their way home to the Siyahlala informal settlement in Langa.
