A four-year-old boy has died after being hit by a bus shortly after leaving hospital, police have announced.
The youngster was struck by the single-decker vehicle outside Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital, in Margate, Kent, on Thursday afternoon.
Police say the child had walked out of the hospital moments before he was hit close to the A&E department's entrance at about 4pm.
Medics rushed the stricken youngster back into the hospital for emergency treatment.
However, despite their best efforts, the boy was pronounced dead a short time later.
