Coronation Street's Todd Grimshaw star Gareth Pierce has been part of a powerful storyline this year09:48, 23 Jul 2026Updated 09:50, 23 Jul 2026Coronation Street's Gareth Pierce has played Todd Grimshaw on the cobbles since 2020.The actor, 45, took over the role of Todd almost six years ago, who was previously played by Bruno Langley from 2001 to 2017.Coronation Street fans will recall that Todd was part of a harrowing domestic abuse storyline at the hands of his evil husband Theo Silverton. Theo was killed off earlier this year by Sarah Platt in a whodunnit and recently Todd has been piecing his life back together.On Thursday's episode, Todd struggled with receiving Theo's life insurance money, likening it to 'blood money'. Later in the episode, Todd revealed he had given the majority of the money to Theo's children, leaving George Shuttleworth and Christina Boyd annoyed as they wanted some of the cash.In another announcement, Todd also revealed he was going to Thailand to visit his mother, Eileen Grimshaw, and brother, Jason Grimshaw, with Summer Spellman also joining him after using her inheritance from late father figure Billy Mayhew.With Todd having a tumultuous time on the cobbles, actor Gareth Pierce's life couldn't be further away from his character's. Beyond the ITV soap, Todd star Gareth is happily married to spouse Amy Lee Pierce, whom he wed in 2014, and the pair, together with their daughter, 10, reside in Manchester.Prior to Coronation Street, Gareth has appeared across countless television productions. His impressive CV includes Caerdydd from 2006 to 2010, Ruth Jones' Stella from 2013 to 2014 in which he portrayed Lenny Mack, Ordinary Lies in 2016, Mr Selfridge in 2016 and The Archers from 2019 to 2024.Gareth additionally provided narration for all 11 instalments of Doctor Who: The Doctors Revisited.Only recently, Gareth opened up to the Mirror, joking that despite loving his recent storyline on the Manchester cobbles, he has set his sights on a more exotic location for his next whodunnit.He said: "I love Manchester, it’s incredibly vibrant, the people are amazing and have truly welcomed us with open arms. But it does rain quite a lot. I always enjoyed languages at school, and so I think that was my other path - taking languages at university and spending time in a slightly warmer country."Article continues belowSo, for his next murder plot, he is thinking of Death in Paradise, set in on the Caribbean island of Guadeloupe. He said: "I haven't done Death in Paradise, but my friends have."They take you out there for a lot longer than you're actually filming, so you get to explore Guadeloupe and go on boats and things.
