Donald Trump, the United States President, has lauded President Bola Tinubu for his decisive leadership “on behalf of the Nigerian people.”
The commendation was contained in a letter to President Tinubu, by President Trump, dated on July 6, 2026, but released by the Nigerian Government on Wednesday
In the letter, Trump applauded Tinubu’s resolve “to tackle the issues plaguing Nigeria, especially the violence affecting Christian communities.”, according to Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy
Trump states in the letter he personally signed, that “It is a true honour to stand with you in the fight against these terrorists and to make the Federal Republic of Nigeria stronger and more prosperous.”
Onanuga stated that US-Nigeria relationship had flourished in recent times on the back of a new relationship forged by the two countries with the two sides working closely in key areas, especially in tackling security challenges afflicting parts of Nigeria.
