Here's what to do during the weekend of 24-26 July.

Do you remember the medieval comedy A Knight's Tale, with its modern pop culture references and Heath Ledger as a squire posing as a knight? If you enjoyed the film, you're in for a treat—at least in terms of atmosphere. From Friday to Sunday, Bratislava will host its annual Coronation Days, recalling the era when the city served as the coronation capital of the Kingdom of Hungary. This year's edition is dedicated to Maria Theresa, the most famous monarch crowned in the St Martin's cathedral in a ceremony that until then had been reserved for male rulers.

There's a wide range of events to choose from, including a procession from Bratislava Castle to Hlavné Námestie square, guided tours, the reenactment of Maria Theresa's coronation, and a spectacular knight's tournament, complete with clashing swords and heroic duels on Friday at 17:30, Tyršovo Nábrežie embankment. Admission is free. Find out more here.

The town of Žilina in northern Slovakia is hosting a rather unconventional event over the weekend. Known as Kiosk, this theatre and dance festival has a reputation for thinking outside the box—or perhaps outside the venue. The festival has a reputation for taking place at an unusual spots, such as a football pitch or a local pub. This edition will be no exception—after all, this year's theme is the exploration of the potential of diverse places. Learn more here.
