To meet the growing demand for high-performance computing (HPC) and artificial intelligence (AI) while streamlining existing services, EPFL is creating the Integrated Computing Platform (ICP). Starting on January 1, 2027, the new platform will bring together the services currently provided by the Scientific IT & Application Support platform (SCITAS) and the Research Computing Platform (RCP). As the needs of the HPC and AI communities continue to converge, ICP will provide researchers with a single point of entry to the computing resources they need for research, education, and AI-related projects. The platform will integrate computing, storage, networking, container-based environments, and Hardware-as-a-Service capabilities into a single, streamlined service offering.Beyond infrastructure, ICP will provide project-oriented technical support, training opportunities, and stronger connections with major national and international scientific computing infrastructures. Employees from both SCITAS and RCP will join ICP from January 2027, ensuring continuity of expertise and support throughout the transition. By fostering these collaborations, the platform will give the EPFL community easier access to state-of-the-art resources and expertise. Throughout the transition, SCITAS and RCP will remain fully operational until ICP officially launches on January 1, 2027.
