Maybe you’re not looking for a new job.
There is a strange gap in the way we talk about careers. You are either “looking” or you are not.
When you're actively looking for a job, the path is familiar. You update your profile, browse job boards, send applications, talk to recruiters, prepare for interviews, and wait for replies—knowing that many of them will never come.
But if you're not actively looking, you're expected to disappear from the market altogether (why is that?!). As if the only two states are searching or not interested.
Real life is rarely that simple. Many experienced professionals live somewhere between those two states.
