Police in the Northern Cape have dispelled messages circulating on social media.
Police management in the Northern Cape has raised concerns after a WhatsApp message implicating a senior police official demanding payment to make dockets disappear has been circulating on social media.
The WhatsApp messages implicate the Deputy Provincial Commissioner for Crime Detection, Major General Luntu Ngubelanga.
The office of the Police Commissioner said it needed to clear the air and confirm that the allegations contained in the circulating messages are false and without factual basis.
“Major General Ngubelanga has not demanded or solicited any payment in exchange for the handling, withdrawal, or any other action relating to a case docket,” the commissioner’s office said.
