You won't get lazy and fat in the Springbok set up, says All Blacks great Sean Fitzpatrick

Former All Blacks captain Sean Fitzpatrick says this is a massive for the New Zealanders against the Springboks,

Legendary All Blacks skipper Sean Fitzpatrick reckons that if he were in the current New Zealand set-up, he would target a Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry (RGR) victory against the Springboks in South Africa as the ultimate springboard to triumph in next year’s World Cup.

“I think it is very important for World Cup preparation,” Fitzpatrick said at a function at Johannesburg’s FNB Stadium, where Castle Double Malt was confirmed as the title sponsor of the tour.

“My point of view is that this is a wonderful opportunity to win a series in South Africa,” added the former hooker, who captained the only All Black side in history to achieve a series victory on South African soil, back in 1996.

“If I was captain, I would be talking about that, and if we do that, the World Cup will take care of itself. You are going to need 30 to 40 players to be victorious over four consecutive Saturdays to win this series, and that is exactly what you need to do in a World Cup.”
