Cyprus households will soon have another incentive to reduce their energy costs, with the government approving a new subsidy program offering up to €900 for the installation or replacement of solar hot water systems.
The Council of Ministers approved on Wednesday the “Grant Scheme for Solar Hot Water Production Systems in Residences 2026,” with a total budget of €1 million, as part of efforts to support households and accelerate the country’s shift toward cleaner energy.
Energy Minister Michalis Damianos said the program will encourage households to upgrade their solar water heating systems, helping reduce energy bills while making better use of Cyprus’ most abundant natural resource, the sun.
Under the program, households in the general category will receive a €500 subsidy, homes in mountainous areas will qualify for €900, and vulnerable households will also receive €900 in financial support.
The program will cover approved solar hot water systems that meet specific technical requirements. Installations must be carried out by authorized installers included on an official list, while the equipment itself must be preapproved and registered as eligible.
