Human capital to shape Nigeria’s maritime future – SIFAX chair

The Group Executive Chairman of SIFAX Group, Dr Taiwo Afolabi, has stated that Nigeria’s maritime future will be determined not merely by its natural endowments, but by its investment in human capital.

According to a statement on Tuesday, Afolabi said this while speaking during the 2026 Taiwo Afolabi Annual Maritime Conference held at the University of Lagos.

The event was themed, ‘Ten Tides of Impact: Raising a Generation to Position Nigeria as Africa’s Blue Giant’.

Afolabi, who was represented at the event by the Group Coordinating Director, Mrs Wunmi Eniola-Jegede, called on young Nigerians to prepare themselves to lead the country’s maritime transformation.
