Athletics infielder Joshua Kuroda-Grauer suffered an injury on Monday night so serious that he needed emergency surgery.But first, he had an at-bat to finish. He also went out to play third base in the bottom of the inning, but something was clearly wrong.He was pulled from the game in the sixth and sent off to get checked out at a Phoenix hospital, where he was diagnosed with the injury and sent to emergency surgery. A’s manager Mark Kotsay told MLB.com that his player was in “great spirits” and even “joking” about the injury. “His personality is amazing,” he said. “He’s such a great kid. Unfortunate to have to lose him with the way he was performing and just the way he was integrated into this group. He fit right in.”Kuroda-Grauer was placed on the injured list.
