Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao urged the Telangana government to clarify its stand on the proposed revival of the Cement Corporation of India (CCI) plant in Adilabad, stating that the issue was crucial for the livelihoods of thousands of families and the district’s industrial development.In an open letter to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, he also sought an appointment with the Chief Minister and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu, along with representatives of the CCI Sadhana Samithi, to submit a representation on the issue.He said the revival of the Adilabad CCI plant was not merely an industrial matter but one that had significant implications for employment, the industrial future of Adilabad district and the State’s economic growth.Referring to the BRS delegation’s visit to New Delhi on July 15 along with representatives of the CCI Sadhana Samithi, he said they had met Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel H.D. Kumaraswamy and submitted a memorandum seeking revival of the plant.According to Mr. Rama Rao, the Union Minister informed the delegation that the Centre was willing to consider reviving the plant provided the Telangana government contributed ₹250 crore towards the project. He claimed the Minister also indicated that the proposal had not progressed because the State government had neither submitted a formal proposal nor conveyed its willingness to extend the required financial support and incentives.Recalling the Assembly election campaign, the BRS MLA said Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had promised to revive the Adilabad CCI plant during his campaign in the district and had reiterated the assurance after assuming office.
