BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) on Tuesday alleged that the governance has collapsed across sectors under the Congress government in Telangana within two-and-a-half years of assuming power. He further accused the Congress of undermining the State’s progress and pledged that BRS leaders would intensify efforts to mobilise public opinion in defence of Telangana’s interests.Speaking at Telangana Bhavan during Telangana Formation Day celebrations, he claimed that farmers—once supported by schemes such as Rythu Bandhu—are now facing distress. He alleged shortages of fertilisers, inadequate procurement of crops, and lack of institutional support.KTR further accused the Congress of coming to power by “misleading people with false promises, cheap propaganda and lies,” and said the State had been pushed back by 25 years under the present regime. He also alleged that the government was “sabotaging” irrigation projects to discredit former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), and criticised the handling of Krishna and Godavari river waters. On employment, KTR questioned the government’s performance, stating it failed to provide even 4,000 jobs so far and challenged Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to meet unemployed youth without police protection at public locations such as Chikkadpally Library or Ashok Nagar crossroads.Describing the overall situation in the State, he said Telangana has turned into a “dharna chowk”, with farmers, unemployed youth, government employees and retirees staging protests over various issues. KTR also raised concerns about law and order, pointing to alleged instances of rising crime, including daytime murders, and irregularities in sectors such as mining. He accused the government of burdening the State with a debt of ₹4 lakh crore without delivering proportional benefits. Alleging misuse of public funds, the BRS leader claimed that while citizens were being denied due benefits, resources were being diverted elsewhere, targeting the Congress leadership at the national level.Asserting that there was growing public discontent, KTR said people were increasingly expressing a desire for a change in leadership. He maintained that the BRS’ fight was not for power but to “protect Telangana”. Published - June 02, 2026 09:51 pm IST
