Telangana Congress leaders launched a fierce counter attack on Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), accusing former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao and his son K.T. Rama Rao of misrule, financial mismanagement and failing even as the principal opposition.Addressing a press conference at the CLP office here on Wednesday, Government Whip Balmoor Venkat and MLC Addanki Dayakar minced no words in targeting the BRS chief and his son Mr. Rama Rao. Mr. Venkat said Mr. Chandrashekhar Rao was ‘not the trump card of Telangana’, describing him as a ‘Nazi‑like ruler’ who suppressed people for ten years. He alleged that BRS left the State buried under debt, raising liabilities from ₹72,000 crore at the time of formation to nearly ₹7 lakh crore. “We are paying ₹6,000 crore every month in interest because of their reckless borrowing,” he charged, citing the Kaleshwaram project as a ₹1 lakh crore debt trap that collapsed within two years. He referred to the thermal power projects at Yadadri and Bhadradri, calling them outdated and costly mistakes. He accused the party of misusing public money and leaving behind ‘white elephants’ that burdened the State. “Even now, BRS leaders cannot play the role of a responsible opposition. Their meetings and dharnas fail to draw people,” he said, challenging them to debate real public issues with sincerity.Mr. Dayakar ridiculed Mr. Rama Rao as a ‘leader without future’, alleging secret deals with the BJP and accusing the Kalvakuntla family of looting Telangana. “Mr. Chandrashekhar Rao is no OG leader, he is a failed compromise leader. If BRS truly believes it is Telangana’s trump card, let them resign and prove it,” Mr. Dayakar said. The Congress leaders termed BRS as a party that squandered Telangana’s resources, lost credibility with the people and now struggles to remain relevant even in opposition.
