Members of the Tamil Nadu Farmers’ Association staged a protest in front of the Namakkal District Collectorate on Wednesday (July 22, 2026), demanding the implementation of the State government’s election promise on crop loan waivers.The demonstration was presided over by the association’s State general secretary, K. Sundaram. The protesters alleged that, during the Assembly elections, the ruling party had promised to waive all crop loans availed by small and marginal farmers from cooperative credit societies and to waive 50% of crop loans obtained by farmers owning more than five acres of land.They contended that the government’s subsequent announcement had fallen short of the promise made to farmers.
