Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 and Galaxy Watch 9 launched at Galaxy Unpacked in London, priced from Rs 38,999 in India. Pre-orders open now, with general availability from August 7.Alongside the new foldables smartphones, Samsung has also launched two new smartwatches in its wearable lineup – Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 and the Galaxy Watch 9.Samsung says these new generation of AI-powered health wearables are designed to deliver deeper insights, more accurate tracking and all-day comfort. Both Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 and Watch 9 are promised to bring a major leap in its preventive-care vision, turning continuous biometric data into personalised, actionable guidance across sleep, activity, cardiovascular health and recovery. Here’s all you need to know about Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 and Galaxy Watch 9.Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 and Galaxy Watch 9 price and availabilityThe Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 comes in a single 47mm size in Titanium Silver and Titanium Gray, priced at Rs 69,999 ($700). The Galaxy Watch 9 starts at Rs 38,999 ($380) for the 40mm Bluetooth model and the 40mm LTE versions is priced at Rs 42,999 ($430).Both watches are open for pre-order in India and other select markets starting July 22, with general availability from August 7.Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 specifications and featuresThe Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 succeeds the Galaxy Watch Ultra and is built around a rugged titanium frame. The wearable weighs 61.5 grams and houses a 1.52-inch Sapphire Crystal Super AMOLED display with 498x498 pixel resolution. The panel supports full-colour Always-On Display and peaks at 5,000 nits — which Samsung claims is a world first for a smartwatch, based on its own market research as of June this year.Powering the watch is the Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear Elite platform, the SDW6100, a penta-core 3nm chip paired with 2GB RAM and 64GB storage. The 800mAh battery is the big one here — a 35 percent capacity increase over the previous Ultra — and it supports wireless charging. Despite that larger cell, Samsung says internal re-engineering has cut the case thickness by 12 percent compared to the last generation.Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 launched with a 5,000-nit display, 800mAh battery and professional diving support, priced at Rs 69,999 in India. The smartwatch runs Wear OS 7 powered by Samsung with One UI 9 Watch, and packs a full sensor suite — the BioActive Sensor, temperature sensor, accelerometer, barometer, gyro, geomagnetic and light sensors. On durability, it is rated 10ATM and IP69K with EN13319 certification, and its military-grade rating makes it suitable for extreme outdoor use and professional diving. The moment the wearer enters the water, the watch can automatically track depth, dive time and water temperature from the wrist. Samsung is going further later this year with a dedicated Ultra 2 Diving app built with Mares, adding ascent and descent speed tracking and safe dive limits — features that stay exclusive to the Ultra 2 among Wear OS smartwatches for two years. For land, the Ultra 2 gets Trail Run, which tracks elevation, climbing progress and terrain impact, and Nutrition Alert, which estimates sweat loss relative to body weight and tells the wearer when and how much to drink.Galaxy Watch 9 specifications and featuresThe Galaxy Watch 9 comes in two sizes — 44mm (Graphite, Silver) and 40mm (Graphite, Cream) — built on a lightweight aluminium frame that keeps the line's signature cushion silhouette. The 44mm variant weighs 34 grams, while the 40mm model comes in at 31.5 grams. The 44mm model features a 1.47-inch Sapphire Crystal Super AMOLED display with 480x480 pixel resolution, while the 40mm version houses a 1.34-inch panel with 438x438 pixel resolution. Both support full-colour Always-On Display with brightness up to 3,000 nits.Internally, the Watch 9 packs the same Snapdragon Wear Elite processor and 2GB RAM, but half the storage at 32GB. Battery capacity differs by size: 445mAh for the 44mm model and 390mAh for the 40mm, both supporting fast WPC-based wireless charging. It runs the same Wear OS 7 and One UI 9 Watch software and carries the same sensor suite as the Ultra 2, including the BioActive Sensor and multiple motion and environmental sensors.Samsung Galaxy Watch 9 launched in 40mm and 44mm sizes with an aluminium build and the Snapdragon Wear Elite chip, priced from Rs 38,999 in India.Durability is where the two separate. The Watch 9 stands at 5ATM, IP68 and MIL-STD-810H — enough for daily wear and fitness tracking, but nowhere near the Ultra 2's dive rating. Both are compatible with Android 13 or higher devices with more than 1.5GB RAM.Band options differ too. The Ultra 2 gets Marine, a lighter breathable silicone band for extreme conditions; PeakForm, a hybrid material band pitched at both formal wear and athletics; and Trail, a fabric band aimed at runners. The Watch 9 gets Sports, Misty and Fabric options, the last of which Samsung says is comfortable enough to sleep in. Both ship with a 60-day Strava trial and a two-month iFIT trial, and India is on the list of 23 markets where the iFIT offer applies.Samsung Health Assistant, explainedBoth watches share the same AI-powered health stack, which Samsung says is built on years of clinical research conducted with universities and medical institutions. The Sleep Apnea feature comes with new FDA clearance and updated AI algorithms for detecting breathing disruptions. Vitals monitors a personal health baseline during sleep and flags significant deviations. Heart Health Score condenses cardiovascular wellness into a single actionable number, Daily Cardio Load handles workout volume and estimated recovery needs, Fitness Index gives a broader read on physical fitness, and Hearing alerts users to unsafe noise levels.A day before the watches were announced, Samsung launched Samsung Health Assistant in beta for eligible users in the US, an AI-powered personal health assistant built into Samsung Health. It is the software layer that gives all those sensors somewhere to go. The assistant pulls together data from Samsung Health's five wellness pillars — sleep, activity, nutrition, mindfulness and vitals — and turns it into actionable insight, explaining how each variable feeds into the others. Samsung says it surfaces patterns users would otherwise miss and offers proactive tracking recommendations vetted by physicians and certified health coaches.
