The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the student wing of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), on Wednesday (July 22, 2026) condemned the violence that broke out during a protest at Jantar Mantar over NEET-UG and other education-related issues, alleging that “anti-social elements” and political interests had hijacked students’ legitimate agitation.The student body, in the same vein, also urged the Union government to constitute a high-level committee to review the transparency and integrity of competitive examinations.In a statement, the ABVP condemned the clashes during the demonstration, saying the legitimate concerns of students should be addressed through dialogue, transparency and institutional reforms.“ABVP believes that under the guise of a genuine student movement, rogue political interests and anti-social elements deliberately orchestrated violence to disrupt public order, a tactic ABVP denounces in the strongest terms,” the statement read.Expressing sympathy for students and security personnel who were injured in the violence, the ABVP maintained that students’ grievances should not be exploited for political purposes and appealed to students, parents, teachers and other stakeholders to ensure that student issues were resolved through peaceful and democratic means.Reiterating its stand on alleged irregularities in competitive examinations, including NEET-UG, the organisation said it had consistently sought accountability in the examination system.“To ensure the credibility and transparency of the examination system, ABVP was the first to demand an investigation by a central agency, organising protests outside the National Testing Agency (NTA) headquarters to demand accountability and strict action against the culprits. From 2024 to the present day, ABVP has continuously fought in the interest of students regarding the NEET-UG issue,” the statement read.It added that the organisation hence demands that the Government of India constitute a high-level committee to conduct a comprehensive review of the integrity, transparency, and necessary institutional reforms of competitive examinations.
