Osama Asad, 27, appeared in the Mankweng Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday on charges of murder, robbery with aggravating circumstances and possession of stolen property in connection with the killing of businessman Tebogo Mothapo.

A 27-year-old man accused of murdering Mankweng businessman Tebogo Mothapo has appeared in the Mankweng Magistrate’s Court, as police say investigations into the killing are continuing and more arrests could follow.

Osama Asad, described by police as a naturalised South African citizen of Pakistani origin, appeared before the court on Wednesday facing charges of murder, robbery with aggravating circumstances and possession of stolen property.

The case was postponed to July 31 for profiling and a possible bail application.

According to Limpopo police, Asad was arrested on July 20 by members of the Provincial Tracking Team and Provincial Investigation Unit at Ga-Mothapo in Tjatjaneng village.
