Jessica Chastain, last seen in the 2025 romance drama Dreams, is ready to return to her strongest forte - the horror genre. The Interstellar actress has piqued the interest of fans with her upcoming film, Other Mommy whose terrifying trailer was released yesterday, July 21. Other Mommy, directed by Rob Savage, best known for horror flicks like Host and The Boogeyman, is an adaptation of the New York Times bestselling novel Incidents Around the House. Other Mommy’s trailer has been playing exclusively to screenings of Christopher Nolan’s magnum opus, The Odyssey. Other Mommy trailer Other Mommy centres around 8-year-old Bela, played by Arabella Olivia Clark, whose reality and imagination is blurred when a malevolent entity, resembling her mother Ursula (Jessica Chastain) emerged from her closer. This mysterious presence is what she calls the ‘Other Mommy’. But unlike her mother, this oppelgangerhas an increasingly disturbing behaviour that convinces the rest of the family that something deeply unnatural has entered their lives. At one point this 'other' mommy goes, 'Can I go inside your heart?' leaving little Bela confused. Bela, who is already reeling under the pressures of her dysfunctional home is unable to decide whether she is talking with her real mom or the Other Mommy. Her suspicions and confusion grow day by day, putting her in challenging and dangerous situations as viewers get to see by the end of the trailer. Jessica Chastain’s eerie expressions and uncomfortable smile, with one particular scene where she hides under the table in a twisted, spider-like position after almost setting the whole house on fire, can send shivers down your spine. The film is slated to hit the big screens on October 9.
