Climate activist Sonam Wangchuk was admitted to Medanta Hospital in Gurugram on Tuesday evening and is currently undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit (ICU), the hospital said.In a health update issued on Wednesday, Medanta said Wangchuk is being treated by a multidisciplinary team of doctors.The hospital said he is presently stable, oriented, and his vital signs are within accepted parameters."All treatment being administered to him is in accordance with his informed consent," Medanta Hospital said.Also Read:‘Country needs him’: CJP requests Sonam Wangchuk to end hunger strikeMeanwhile, the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) urged Wangchuk to end his hunger strike, saying his life was too valuable to be put at further risk."We request @Wangchuk66 sir to end his hunger strike. The country needs him, and his life is far too precious to be put at further risk," the party said in a post on X.CJP, however, said its protest at Jantar Mantar would continue until its demands were met. "The peaceful protest at Jantar Mantar will continue until our demands are met," it said.The appeal came as Wangchuk continued his hunger strike as part of the ongoing protest. On the same day, CJP also declined an invitation to meet Union Health Minister and BJP national president JP Nadda at his residence, insisting that any talks should instead be held at the protest site in Jantar Mantar.Chief spokesperson Saurav Das said police officials informed the party that Nadda wanted to meet its representatives, but the invitation was turned down."This morning, the police reached out to us again and informed us that BJP national president JP Nadda wanted to speak with us. They invited us to his residence, but we categorically declined. We are not going to anyone's house or office," Das said.Calling the protest venue a "janata darbar", Das said any discussions with the government should take place at Jantar Mantar."The discussion should take place at Jantar Mantar," he said.
