Taxi industry gives Gauteng government ultimatum: Seven days to address demands

The Gauteng taxi industry is threatening protests and calling on the provincial government to take urgent action to resolve serious licensing issues.

The South African National Taxi Council (Santaco) and the Gauteng National Taxi Alliance (GNTA) have given the provincial government seven days to meet their demands.

They warn that if their demands go unanswered, Gauteng could see all transport services grind to a halt.

Pointing to persistent administrative hurdles and licence approval backlogs under Transport MEC Kedibone Diale-Tlabela, the taxi industry is urgently appealing for the Premier’s office to step in.

Taxi leaders warn that without a formal meeting to address their grievances before the deadline, they will mobilise protest marches throughout the province.
